Britton Household Assistant. Owen runs an assistant that sends and receives text messages on his behalf, so that arranging the ordinary business of a household does not require him to be at a phone. If you have exchanged messages with this number, you are dealing with Owen Britton.

What sort of messages

• Arranging and confirming work on the house — trades, repairs, deliveries, site visits.
• Scheduling, rescheduling and confirming appointments.
• Asking for and following up a quote or an invoice.
• Replies in an ongoing conversation you are already part of.
• One-time verification codes for accounts the household holds.

These are conversational and transactional messages. No marketing, promotional or advertising messages are sent from this number, ever.

How you came to receive them

Messages go only to people and businesses Owen is already dealing with: a tradesperson whose number was given for a job, a supplier contacted about an order, a service provider who published the number for enquiries, or someone who texted this number first. Consent is given in the course of that dealing — by giving the number for the purpose, or by starting the conversation. There is no list, no sign-up form, and no number is ever bought or obtained from a third party.

Frequency, cost and stopping

• Frequency varies with the matter in hand, and is low — typically fewer than 10 messages a month, and often none at all.
• Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile operator's ordinary charges are yours.

• Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

What happens to your number
